Background
Although only called to the Bar in 2001, Grahame Richardson practised as a solicitor and advocate in Essex for some 23 years before this, exercising his rights of audience to the full during that time. He has long experience of communicating with clients from all walks of life, including children and young people as a result of having been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel. Further, he understands the ‘solicitors' perspective’ and the difficulties and problems they encounter.
During his career, Mr Richardson has acquired experience in dealing with many areas of litigious work. However, since the early 1990's, he has concentrated in the main on public law Children Act cases and family law generally. Indeed he decided that upon his call to the Bar he would only practise in the field of family law (including property, financial and "Trusts of Land" Act cases).
Mr Richardson has been sitting as a Deputy District Judge since about 1993, something which has given him a valuable insight into how cases are approached from the other side of the bench.
