Liam Sullivan (2009)
Liam regularly deals with a variety of Children Act (public and private law), Family Law Act, and Matrimonial Causes Act matters. He frequently appears on behalf of Local Authorities and Children’s Guardians as well as individuals. He has dealt with a number of lengthy final hearings and fact finding hearings and has particular experience of cases involving non-accidental injuries and human trafficking. He has assisted with a number of high profile and high asset matrimonial finance cases.
Liam also appears in a broad range of civil matters. He regularly acts in MOJ Stage 3 Quantum hearings and infant approval hearings and provides advice on liability and quantum in PI cases. He appeared before the Court of Appeal in the reported case of Thurrock Borough Council v Aaron West  EWCA civ 1435 – concerning housing law/the HRA (a ‘Pinnock’ case) – in which his final submissions were described as ‘eloquent’ by the court in its written judgement.
He also acts in various criminal, quasi-criminal, and regulatory proceedings on behalf of Local Authorities.
Whilst studying, Liam received a number of awards and scholarships; including a Droop scholarship and a Wolfson Pupillage scholarship from Lincoln’s Inn, an MA scholarship from the UEA School of Political, Social, and International Studies, and the PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for Best Overall Performance in Accounting for non-specialists module he took during his law degree.
