Eugene Ahern practised as a solicitor/partner for some 25 years before being called to the Bar in 2007. He practised in civil and personal injury cases undertaking much of his own advocacy before deciding to concentrate on family law. He was a member of the Law Society Children Panel for many years.
As a Barrister he now practises in all areas of family law including financial matters, Adoption hearings, Special Guardianship and both public and private law children work.
He is regularly instructed to act on behalf of parents, grandparents, Local Authorities and children, often in complex and protracted cases. Mr. Ahern is often involved in cases requiring the cross examination of medical professionals from a variety of disciplines as well as psychiatrists and psychologists.
He has a wealth of experience in addressing the issues and dynamics in disputes involving residence, contact and relocation whether in the UK or abroad and is acutely aware of the strong emotions and anxieties that such cases can generate. His experience enables him to provide realistic and appropriate advice to clients in a sensitive manner.
Mr. Ahern is Direct Access trained and is thus able to accept instructions directly from members of the public. As a former solicitor he believes that he has a particular understanding as to how cases are conducted from the perspective of a solicitor.
