Katherine Watson

Katherine received a first-class degree in LLB Law from the University of Essex, before completing the Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy.

Katherine joined Chambers as a pupil in October 2025. Prior to coming to the Bar, Katherine spent 18 months working at the Family Court in Cambridge as a court usher. She gained experience clerking for a number of senior judges, and observed many different types of hearings including complex financial remedy cases, public law fact-finding and final hearings involving non-accidental injury and sexual abuse, and private law cases at all stages.

From April 2026, Katherine will be accepting instructions in all of Chambers’ practice areas.

Katherine is currently under the supervision of Lisa Tuckwell.

Matthew Jahanfar

Prior to pupillage, Matthew won the Sir Louis Gluckstein Advocacy Prize, which is awarded to the best junior advocate at Lincoln’s Inn. Thereafter, he gained experience by working as a County Court Advocate with LPC Law. From October 1st, he will accept instructions in all of Chambers’ core practice areas.

After reading Politics at the University of Durham, Matthew obtained a Distinction in his Graduate Diploma in Law and a Very Competent in his Bar Practice Course.

During his time at LPC Law, Matthew accepted instructions on mortgage possessions, landlord and tenant matters, return of goods, insolvency proceedings and small claims trials.

Matthew has experience working with vulnerable people, having volunteered with Citizens Advice, Support4Sight, CHESS Homeless and Care4Calais. The latter involved aid distribution and organising cricket games with refugees in Calais.

Outside of law, Matthew is a keen sportsman. He was awarded a First-Class Cricket Cap for representing Durham MCCU against Gloucestershire CCC in 2017. He also represented his school in athletics, cricket, hockey, rugby, tennis, and cross-country.
